Keep the Game Going All Year Round with Electric Turf Heating
Reliable Heating Solutions for Football Pitches
Football season never has to pause due to cold weather. With ELEKTRA electric football pitch heating, stadiums can remain operational throughout the year, ensuring optimal playing conditions even in harsh winters.
In recent months, ELEKTRA has successfully implemented electric turf heating systems in two major Polish football venues: SKRA Municipal Football Stadium in Częstochowa & MOSiR Urban Sports and Recreation Center in Katowice
Skra Częstochowa – A Homecoming for the Team
Since advancing to Fortuna 1 League in 2021, Skra Częstochowa’s football team was unable to play in their own stadium due to licensing requirements. A complete stadium modernization was undertaken, including a new synthetic turf surface and an electric heating system using 187 ELEKTRA VCD 17/3700 heating cables (230V, 212m each).
Project Overview
✔ 7,490 m² of football pitch + 150 m² x 2 warm-up areas
✔ 40,000 m of ELEKTRA VCD heating cables
✔ 6 heating zones
✔ 90 W/m² unit heating output
✔ 700 kW total heating power
The upgraded stadium was officially reopened in Spring 2023, allowing the team to finally return to their home turf.
MOSiR Katowice – A Modernized Urban Sports Hub
The reconstruction of the old Kolejarz Stadium in Katowice took two years and a €10 million investment to transform it into a state-of-the-art sports facility. Now, the venue features:
A five-lane running track
A multi-purpose handball/basketball court
A full-size football pitch with an advanced electric heating system
Project Overview
✔ 6,200 m² football area + 250 m² coach area
✔ 35,000 m of ELEKTRA VCD heating cables
✔ 5 heating zones
✔ 90 W/m² unit heating output
✔ 770 kW total heating power
For this installation, 400V ELEKTRA VCD heating cables were placed 20 cm beneath the turf, over a drainage layer, ensuring efficient and even heat distribution. The system is powered by two electric switchboards at the pitch’s edge, and is divided into five independently controlled sections using ELEKTRA ETN4 controllers with integrated temperature sensors.
